It all started with an old black and white picture of an eruption of the volcano Popocatépetl as seen from Iztaccíhuatl taken on 24th March 1921 at 6.30 a.m. found in an gigantic internet picture archive.
This magical photo inspired me and my project partner Simon Bräumer to do some research on the volcano itself and led immediately to the fascinating mythology of Aztec people. One of those legends is about the love story of these two volcanos:
The princess Iztaccíhuatl died in sorrow, believing that she had lost her dearest Popocatepétl in war. When her beloved one returned home safely and saw the dead princess, he also died of grief. The gods covered them both with snow and turned them into mountains.

For the music we messed with some Mexican Teponaztli and Tetl sounds here. If you listen carefully you can also hear my voice and accidentally some Madagascan influences. The world can be confusing sometimes. If you look carefully you will notice that the fume-object reacts to the sounds as we programmed it audioreactive.
